BLACKJACK

In online Blackjack you play against the dealer, and you win automatically if your first two cards total 21. You could also win with a smaller total 17, 18, 19 or 20 but you do not go over 21. Still it much depends in this case on the hand of the dealer.

If you get 21 from the first two cards dealt it is called you have Blackjack. Basically, the winner is the hand closer to 21. If you win you get a 1:1 payment. You can win at a rate of 3:2 of your wagered money if you have Blackjack, but only if the dealer does not have Blackjack too. If both you and the dealer have Blackjack, or both the same card value total the round is called a tie and the bet is put back into your account.

The values of the cards are as follows: all cards count as the number on them, except for aces which count either as 1 or as 11 and face cards which count as 10. If the total value of your cards is over 21, you are "BUST" and automatically lose your bet, no matter what the cards of the dealer are.

If your hand and the dealer's hand coincide, that is you both have for example 19, or 20, or any other possible value the game is a tie, also called a "PUSH" and the bet is given back. Blackjack -first two cards total 21- is a winner hand as opposed to a combination of three or more cards that totals 21.

Rules for the Dealer

When playing Blackjack you should also know the rules which must be obeyed by the dealer. First of all the dealer does not make a decision based on your hand, he must hit (draw cards) until he gets a total of at least 17. Second, he must stand at 17 or higher. With this in your mind you can calculate your odds by knowing the first card of the dealer, which is the only one shown at the beginning of the game.
Split

You may split the first two cards into two separate hands if you have two cards of equal value, for instance two aces or two face cards, but this implies making a second bet of the exactly same value as the initial one. After that you play on as usual and you can hit or stand. Still, in the case of a two aces split you are given only one card for each hand. If the total of any of the two hands is 21 you will be awarded the same amount as the initial bet as this is not regarded as a Blackjack.

Double Down

You can use the "DOUBLE" button whenever you think that based on your first two cards you can beat the dealer. In this case you get only one additional card and your bet is automatically doubled.
Insurance

Whenever you think the dealer's hand can turn out to be a Blackjack, you are given the opportunity to use the INSURANCE; this means you can guard your bet in case of its having Blackjack. If you see that the turned up card of the dealer is an ace there is a great chance that the dealer hits Blackjack.

The program will prompt you to choose whether you want to buy or not insurance: "INSURANCE - YES/NO". The insurance can be bought half the value of your initial wager. If the dealer's hand is a Blackjack combination payment of 2:1 is given, depending on the money value of your initial bet. If the dealer's hand is not Blackjack, your insurance money is lost to the dealer.

The winner in such a case obeys the rules mentioned earlier, the closest to 21 wins, and if the game is a tie it means it is a push.
Tips and Strategies

Having an ace can be of great advantage because it can count as an 11 or a 1. The hand that contains an ace considered at its 11 value is called a soft hand. For instance a soft 17 hand is made up of an ace and a 6. After drawing a third or more cards the ace can be turned to its 1 value. If in a hand the ace counts as 1 we call it a hard hand.
Hit or Stand?

IF THE DEALERS OPEN CARD IS: HIT ON: STAND ON:
    3, 4, 5 or 6 11 and lower Soft 17 and lower 12 and higher Soft 18 and higher
7, 8, 9, 10 or Ace 16 and lower Soft 17 and lower 17 and higher Soft 18 and higher
Split?

IF THE DEALERS OPEN CARD IS: SPLIT:
    2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 2's, 3's, 8's and Aces
    8, 9, 10 or Ace 8's and Aces
Double?

IF YOUR FIRST TWO [2] CARDS TOTAL: DOUBLE IF THE DEALERS OPEN CARD IS:
    11 Anything except an Ace
10 Anything except a 10 or an Ace
    9 2 to 8
    7 or 8 3 to 6

The above schemes represent the most simplistic Blackjack strategy. You can develop your own strategy after becoming familiar enough with the Blackjack game.
